Justin Bieber knows how to make his legion of Beliebers swoon on Valentine's Day. Come February 14, the pop megastar will release Never Say Never - The Remixes, the musical counterpart to "Never Say Never," his feature-film debut. As teased a few weeks ago, the limited-edition CD will feature a brand-new track and remixed tunes with features from Rascal Flatts, Chris Brown and more.

The seven-track CD, which includes a 12-panel official movie-poster foldout, begins with his Jaden Smith-assisted "Never Say Never." In addition to the film's trailer theme song, the project also features remixed collaborations with Rascal Flatts ("That Should Be Me") and Brown ("Up") and a live duet with Miley Cyrus ("Overboard"). The disc also includes the new Diane Warren-penned track "Born to Be Somebody." Fans can begin to pre-order the limited-edition CD for $9.99 on the Biebster's official online store.

The cover art for Bieber's remix project is the same photo featured on the 16-year-old's first movie poster for "Never Say Never," which he unveiled via a Twitter puzzle in October. In a dark varsity jacket, Bieber offers a side profile in front of a white backdrop. The 3-D movie hits theaters nationwide on February 11.

The singer's manager, Scooter Braun, hinted about some star-studded collaborations during a recent online fan chat. "Yes, Justin is working on new music," he said. "He's been talking to Drake about new music. [Bieber] and Kanye had a call today about a song they're trying to work on together. Kanye wants to produce a bunch of new songs for the new album. He's talked with Rascal Flatts. Him and Chris Brown have been sending stuff back and forth to each other."

The Never Say Never - The Remixes track list, according to Bieber's official website:

1. "Never Say Never" (featuring Jaden Smith)
2. "That Should Be Me" (remix featuring Rascal Flatts)
3. "Somebody to Love" (remix featuring Usher)
4. "Up" (remix featuring Chris Brown)
5. "Overboard" (live featuring Miley Cyrus)
6. "Runaway Love" (Kanye West remix, featuring Raekwon)
7. "Born to Be Somebody"

Bruno Mars To Take Plea Deal In Drug Case

Grammy-nominated singer will pay a fine and complete community service to get charge dismissed.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

Bruno Mars is set to take a plea deal in a drug possession case he picked up after getting caught with cocaine in Las Vegas in September, according to The Associated Press.

The "Just the Way You Are" crooner will pay a fine of $2,000 and complete drug counseling and 200 hours of community service. As long as Mars, born Peter Hernandez, does not get into any other scrapes for a year, his record will be conviction-free. Clark County District Attorney David Roger and Mars' lawyers David Chesnoff and Blair Berk said the singer is due in court in Las Vegas on February 4 so he can waive an evidentiary hearing to later plead guilty and be sentenced in state court.

"Bruno is very appreciative he is being given this opportunity as a first offender not to suffer any conviction and instead to have his charge dismissed," Berk told the AP. "He is taking all of this quite seriously."

Mars ran into trouble last fall at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel when a bathroom attendant noticed Mars with a "baggy of white powder substance." The singer tested positive for cocaine at the time of his arrest, and reportedly said he "did a foolish thing and has never used drugs before."

Putting the cocaine bust behind him isn't the only good thing coming up for Mars. The singer/songwriter is up for seven Grammy nominations, and will hit the stage at the big show. After the nominations were announced in December, MTV News caught up with Mars and his writing and production crew, the Smeezingtons, — who have put their touch on hits like Cee Lo's "F--- You" and B.o.B's "Nothin' on You" — and he said he was amped for the nods.

"But the fact [is] that we worked so hard this year. In a little tiny shack studio, we'd have B.o.B in there [writing] 'Nothin' on You' with us, Cee Lo writing 'F--- You' with us. The fact that it's being acknowledged by the Grammys is incredible," he said. "It's really making us feel like we did something. We're being acknowledged by the biggest."

The Grammys will air live on February 13.

SAG Awards Set Designer Says Show's Vibe Will Be 'Elegant'

Joe Stewart tells MTV News that Sunday night's festivities will look 'beautiful.'
By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Kelly Marino

Joe Stewart
Photo: MTV News

At Sunday night's SAG Awards, Hollywood's best and brightest will be lauded by their peers. And it's up to the show's production designer, Joe Stewart, to make sure that this year's winners collect their hardware in a venue that is as spiffy as humanly possible.

Stewart spoke to MTV News on Friday while preparations at the Shrine were well underway, and broke down the glamorous atmosphere of the production.

"This year, what we wanted to do was have a beautiful, elegant environment," he said. "The vibe of this show is always pretty elegant — because first of all, I mean, you're at an awards show; the attendees and the recipients are always wearing gowns and tuxedos. It's a black-tie event, so you always have to have a set that ... people can settle into and look good. So this set is supposed to be a sort of swell interior where ladies in gowns can look at home."

Setting up a venue worthy of a televised, A-list trophy handout takes planning, and Stewart said that putting the look of the event together took months.

"We prepare for this show in advance quite a while. I think that we started working on this in October, maybe even September with the preliminary conceptual ideas to get us going," he said. "It's a committee, we all have to get together, find time and meet and sooner or later we come to a consensus and start the work."

Outfitting the legendary event space with a glitzy look appropriate enough for SAG nominees like Natalie Portman and Nicole Kidman to sashay into is no easy task. However, Stewart pointed out that the space not only has to appear super glam, but the room also has to be transformed into a top-tier set able to accommodate a live coast-to-coast broadcast of the ceremony.

"Always, the challenging part of this is the space," he said. "There's a transformation that happens in this space. We completely black it out and then rig it, and the rigging you can see above head is how we hang everything up. And we basically take a room that isn't supposed to be a television studio or a theater and turn it into a glamorous event. But it has to function and have all the whistles and bells that a television studio would have and catering an event."

After months of planning, Stewart's job will finally wrap up Sunday when the show airs. While he admitted that handing over his handiwork to the stage managers makes him "pace backstage," Stewart revealed the special way he gets to indulge in the excitement of the evening.

"I get a little place backstage and I can see and congratulate winners, and I really enjoy doing that," he smiled. "When they come off the stage it's fabulous."

Stick with MTV News for SAG Awards coverage throughout the weekend and from the red carpet on Sunday night!

Wiz Khalifa's 'Roll Up' Leaks Online

Song is second single from Pittsburgh rapper's debut album, Rolling Papers, due March 29.
By Jayson Rodriguez

Wiz Khalifa is living the good life. The Pittsburgh rapper rhymes about fast times, fast women and smoke-filled nights on his new single "Roll Up."

The track is the MTV News' 11 for '11 star's second single, following his breakout hit "Black and Yellow."

"I try to stay out your business/ But on the real, you're so obvious," Wiz raps over the synth-heavy number. "And if you keep fitting me in your plan of f-----' up/ Your man is gonna catch on to us/ That white sand is surrounding us/ He be handcuffing, he should work for them officers/ If you rolling, I got a spot where I can put you on this medical and send you home doctored up.

"I ain't gonna flex, I'm not gonna front/ You know if I ball, then we all gonna stunt," he sings on the hook. "Send her my way, she ain't gotta hold up/ Whenever you call baby, I'll roll up."

Wiz revealed to MTV News last month from the set of the "Black and Yellow" G-mix video that his next release would be the green-friendly "Roll Up." The track is set to appear on Rolling Papers, Wiz's first album with Atlantic Records. The underground stalwart signed to the label, which is home to Kid Rock, Paramore and T.I., after a successful independent run that saw him release his acclaimed mixtape Kush and Orange Juice.

Rolling Papers is due March 29 and will feature production by Stargate and Jim Jonsin, among others.

Kanye West, Killers, 30 Seconds To Mars To Headline Lollapalooza Chile

First international edition of festival will be held in early April in Santiago.
By Gil Kaufman

Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell has long dreamed of taking his festival overseas. After announcing earlier this year that he would finally make that vision come true by putting on a Lollapalooza in Chile in April, he unleashed the lineup for the two-day event on Friday (January 28).

The top of the roster reads like a who's who of past Lolla performers and includes such headliners as Kanye West, the Killers, 30 Seconds to Mars and, of course, Farrell's own Jane's Addiction.

The show, which will take place in O'Higgins Park in Santiago on April 2 and 3, will also feature the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Deftones, Fatboy Slim, the Flaming Lips, Cypress Hill, 311, Cold War Kids, the National and Ben Harper. After nearly 20 years of wandering the U.S. and then putting down stakes along the Chicago lakefront since 2005, Lollapalooza is one of the most recognized music festivals on the planet.

The Chilean show will, as promised, feature a mix of international acts and South American stars, who will perform on five stages set up in the scenic downtown park. Farrell has also promised to engage in a "cultural exchange" and bring some of the Chilean artists to this summer's Lollapalooza in Chicago, whose lineup has not yet been announced.

"The job we did to gather these artists for 2011 was remarkable," Farrell said in a statement. "Imagine gathering 60 artists while the contract ink is still wet. We put it together at a record pace as we had four months. We did not want to come to Chile with a lineup that was anything other than world-class. ... Our selections are very animated, with much diversity. There is Chilean talent in the mix. ... Our ambition is to plant a very strong seed in Chile. One that will grow over the years, and provide Santiago with an event for the ages."

Among the other acts on the Lollapalooza Chile roster: Armin Van Buuren, Sublime with Rome, Empire of the Sun, CSS, Los Bunkers, Cat Power, Devendra Banhart, the Drums, Boys Noize, Steel Pulse, Fischerspooner, PerryEtty vs. Chris Cox (Farrell's electronic side project), Mala Rodriguez, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Datarock, Todos Tus Muertos, Bomba Estereo, Ghostland Observatory, Joachim Garraud, Francisca Valenzuela, Zeta Bosio, Anita Tijoux, Quique Neira, Latin Bitman, DJ Raff, Toy Selektah, Fractal + Joe Vasconcellos, Fother Muckers, Astro, Devil Presley, Denver, Como Asesinar a Felipes, the Ganjas, Matanza, Ital, New Kids on the Noise, Magictwins, Los Pulentos, Achu, Cuchara, Mundano and Los Plumabits.

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Lyrics Revealed

Perez Hilton posts lyrics from singer's upcoming single and says album of the same name will 'change culture.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga

For fans looking for details on Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" single, out in two weeks, pal Perez Hilton gave the world a sneak peek of the tune's opening lyrics on Thursday (January 27).

Hilton posted these lyrics on his website: "Don't be a drag/ Just be a queen."

"I just posted a big surprise on my website!!!! " the gossip blogger tweeted after posting the line. "Oh, and if you're a @ladygaga fan, you REALLY wanna go to [my website] RIGHT NOW! #Leaking"

Later in the day, in another post, Hilton revealed more lyrics: "No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life/ I'm on the right track, baby, I was born to survive."

His post comes hours after Gaga herself teased that she was planning to gift her fans with some of the single's lyrics, tweeting, "#thankgod4gaga is trending!? More like #thankgod4monsters! Maybe I should leak the lyrics to Born This Way today, whatdya say #leakitgaga?"

She belted out a bit of the song at the VMAs back in September. Donning her now-infamous meat dress, she sang, "I'm beautiful in my way/ 'Cause God makes no mistakes/ I'm on the right track/ Baby, I was born this way."

In his post, Hilton also revealed that he's heard the song and the album and that all of Gaga's Little Monsters won't be disappointed. "Get ready world!!!! Here she comes!!!! We've heard the song and - it MORE than lives up to the hype!!!" he wrote. "We've been holding a big secret from you all, which is we've heard the whole album. We've been there every step of the way and.... This album is going to change culture! When we can say more, we will! For now.... Don't be a drag, just be a queen!!!"

Gaga got fans hyped for the May album release of the same name on Wednesday, when she thanked them for making the song title "Edge of Glory" a Twitter trend. "Ok. Firstly, yes I love Nutella (with Banana+Wonderbread) who doesn't?" she wrote. "Secondly, I can't believe Edge of Glory was trending, sneakymonsters! Thirdly, I need a beer with my name on it cause the last 72hrs gave me a creative hangover."

Are you excited for "Born This Way"? Let us know in the comments!

'American Idol' Finds Tragic Stories, Aerosmith Groupies In Milwaukee

Jerome Bell, Scott Dangerfield, Alyson Jados and Scotty McCreery stand out in week two.
By Gil Kaufman

Steven Tyler on Wednesday's "American Idol"
Photo: FOX

The second week of "American Idol" auditions brought our judges to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the first visit to the beer-and-cheese-loving Midwestern town busted out of the gate with a surefire star in the making, as well as the by-now-familiar slow-motion glamour montage complete with Steven Tyler yelps and profane bleeps. The trip also served up one of the most touching "Idol" audition moments of all time and a healthy roster of talented young teens.

Though the focus was to be on the auditioners this year, the episode opened with Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler doing an endearing a cappella duet of Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" accompanied by an Altoids tin and some cheeky lyrics about bad singing. As if we could forget that Tyler is a world-famous rock star, right?

But that was soon replaced by the froggy voice of Garner, North Carolina, native Scotty McCreery, 16, who wowed the judges off the bat with his perfect country rumble through Josh Turner's "Your Man" and Travis Tritt's "Put Some Drive in Your Country." Both songs sounded like the work of a career cowboy crooner rather than a high school baseball prospect. "Well hellfire, save matches, f--- a duck and see what hatches!" Tyler enthused to the howls of the whole "Idol" crew. "That's beautiful."

Host Ryan Seacrest humored budding radio host Joe Repka, 19, an awkward communications major who lost the panel off the bat with his lame "radio voice," then set them howling like dogs with a warbly operatic slog through Billy Joel's "The Longest Time."

Emma Henry, 15, said she's watched the show since she was 5, and her raspy, emotional "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper had rough spots but won Tyler over with its unique character. "I want this so bad; this is what my life is about," the emo teen wept after judge Jennifer Lopez said no and Jackson reluctantly put her through. "Don't disappoint us," he cautioned.

One of the bright spots in an otherwise grim day of auditions in Milwaukee was colorful belter Naima Adedapo, who killed it with a gospel-tinged slow-and-easy version of Donny Hathaway's "For All We Know," which was powerful, self-assured and oh-so-buttery. "I like you a lot," said Lopez, who called Adedapo the whole package. They also gave a thumbs-up to wedding/ bar mitzvah singer Jerome Bell, 27, when the New York native slayed Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" thanks to high energy and a sugar-sweet falsetto. "So good, so good," Tyler gushed.

One thing has already become clear this season: Singing Lady Gaga is a terrible idea in an "Idol" audition. Every time. And don't show up with giant toothbrushes or wearing your Civil War re-enactment costumes, because that mess doesn't wash.

Admitting that they lowered the age limit in part because of Bieber Fever, Seacrest said there have been a lot of stellar 15-year-olds so far this year, with startlingly confident California native Thia Megia proving them right after a soulful stroll through Adele's "Chasing Pavements." She set off an avalanche of 15-year-old gold-ticket winners, providing a glimpse of the youthquake that is sure to shake the Hollywood rounds.

It's unclear why 22-year-old Harvard grad and White House intern Molly De-Wolf Swensen even needs "Idol," but the statuesque blonde proved she has some other skills with a smoky "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" that appeared to catch Tyler's eye. "Who knew what was goin' on at the White House?" Randy said, with Tyler adding, "That's great. You got attitude, you know where to put it, geez, that was beautiful!"

Day two brought more R&B belters, a (terrible) Obama impersonator, an operatic destruction of Bieber's "Baby" and a Minnie Riperton slayer with some serious bad attitude. Then there was mild-mannered awkward loner accountant/funeral singer (is that even a thing?) Steve Beghun, who did a Jason Mraz-meets-Josh Groban warble that Tyler called "disturbingly great" and which was just good enough to get him to Hollywood.

Milwaukee student teacher Scott Dangerfield, 22, looked like an indie-rock slacker but came on like a blue-eyed soulster when he sang Amos Lee's "Dreamin'." It felt a bit mannered but was so compelling to Lopez that she called it her favorite audition so far, counseling him to keep the grown-out Bieber hair and nerdy glasses.

Hire a rock star and you'll get a few groupies, such as self-avowed Chicago rocker girl and bartender Ali Jados, 26, who immediately caught her idol's fancy. "Wow," Tyler said wide-eyed while looking over the raven-haired beauty with the voluptuous mouth. "You look like you could be one of my ... nope, I can't say it. ... One of my friends."

She knew just what song to pick, too, growling out a cover of the Beatles' "Come Together," which Aerosmith famously covered in the disastrous 1978 "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" movie, segueing into a duet with Tyler on Aerosmith's "Dream On."

Tyler appreciated that she sang one of his songs but said he was scared by how pitchy her performance was, though Lopez liked her stage presence and performance quality. Randy gave it a no while Lopez said yes, so it was up to Tyler, who faked left and then sent Jados to the next round.

The night ended with one of the all-time "Idol" audition tearjerker stories, courtesy of Chicago's Chris Medina, 26, who told the tragic tale of his fiancée's life-changing car accident. After getting engaged following eight years together, she suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2009 and Medina explained how he stood by her side and is now her caretaker.

His finger-snapping amble through "Break Even" by the Script had touches of heart and soul, and after he wheeled girlfriend Julie in to meet the judges, they broke the good news that he was going to advance. "Nice kid, he sang great," Randy said.

Thursday night's show will take the panel to Nashville for another night of auditions.

Jay Sean And Lil Wayne Reunite For 'Hit The Lights'

Sean's second U.S. album, Freeze Time, is due in the spring.

After first hopping on Jay Sean's U.S. debut single, "Down," in '09, it appears Lil Wayne has co-signed Sean's forthcoming second U.S. album, Freeze Time, due in the spring. Wayne is featured on the project's second single, "Hit the Lights," following "2012 (It Ain't the End)" featuring Nicki Minaj, which Sean released last year.

The song, which leaked this weekend and will go on sale digitally February 8, is a progressive house banger made for the dance floor that could rival Britney Spears' recent electro-house jam, "Hold It Against Me," in the clubs.

"Lights" was produced by the Orange Factory, the outfit who also crafted Sean's last album, including radio hits "Down" and "Do You Remember," featuring Sean Paul and Lil Jon.

Now that pop music has gone "club," it appears the Factory have returned to their dance roots with "Lights." Orange Factory producer J Remy co-produced Dynamix's hit "Don't Want Another Man" featuring Tina Ann, which reached #1 on the Billboard Dance/Club Airplay Chart in November 2000.

Keeping in line with Jay Sean's "Feel good, life is good" mantra, "Lights" is a party record that begs of the listener to get themselves to a dance floor.

Sean sings: "Put your lighters in the air/ Let 'em burn into the night/ And let everybody know/ That you're with it and you're ready to go/ Come out in the dark, and let the DJ lead the way/ 'Cause it's hot in the club now/ So don't let it stop now/ So hit the lights."

And if Sean can be seen as inviting the ladies onto the dance floor, then it seems Weezy means to take over for the next phase of the party.

Wayne raps: "Hit the lights so you can see/ My drink is strong, my hookah sweet/ Understand the time is now, but time is up, the future's bleak/ This beat is stupid, cupid/ Love me, leave me in the morning/ If you like, your friend can join in."

Exclusive: 'Skins' Creator Speaks Out

For the first time since the show's premiere, Bryan Elsley responds.
By MTV News staff

The cast of "Skins"
Photo: MTV

In 2007, Bryan Elsley — working alongside his son, Jamie Brittain — created "Skins," a drama that took British television by storm, thanks in no small part to its whip-smart writing, gritty feel and willingness to go there, unflinchingly covering topics like sex, sexual identity, substance abuse and mental health issues. In short, it was the kind of television that resonated with teens and critics alike, raising controversy along the way.

In the years since its initial premiere, "Skins" gained a cult audience here in the U.S., where the British version also ran on BBC America, and in August 2009, it was announced that Elsley would be partnering with MTV to create a Stateside version of the show. And on January 17, "Skins" finally premiered ... to record-setting numbers, and a new round of controversy and critics. Now, Elsley has decided to respond in a statement released exclusively to MTV News on Monday.

Statement from "Skins" creator Bryan Elsley:
Skins is a very simple and in fact rather old fashioned television series. It's about the lives and loves of teenagers, how they get through high school, how they deal with their friends, and also how they circumnavigate some of the complications of sex, relationships, educations, parents, drugs and alcohol. The show is written from the perspective of teenagers, reflects their world view, and this has caused a degree of controversy both in the UK and the USA.

In the UK, viewers and commentators very quickly realized that although there are some sensational aspects to the show, Skins is actually a very serious attempt to get to the roots of young people's lives. It deals with relationships, parents, death, illness, mental health issues, the consequences of drug use and sexual activity. It is just that these are characterized from the point of view of the many young people who write the show and has a very straightforward approach to their experiences; it tries to tell the truth. Sometimes that truth can be a little painful to adults and parents.

Consequences do flow from incorrect or selfish behavior but in the show, these are shown to be unexpected, hard to predict, and more to do with the loss of friendship than anything else, which in any context, is a disastrous outcome.

We proceed from the idea, not that teenagers are inherently likely to misbehave, but rather that they are intensely moral and disposed to make judgments on their own and others' behaviour. Sometimes, but not always, they get things wrong. In this teenagers are remarkably similar to adults. Their morals may not be the same as those of their parents and teachers, but they are nevertheless, highly developed and active in their world.

When viewers have taken the time to watch the show in a little more depth, they are less concerned about the behavior of the characters. Teenagers can be loyal, supportive, dedicated, focused, and capable of making informed value judgments about their lives. In the pilot episode of Skins, it's possibly easy to overlook the story wherein a young boy sets off to a party to sell drugs and have sex, but in fact, does neither of these things, because, he senses that he has been manipulated by friends and does not feel ready to have sex with someone he does not know properly.

Skins is a traditionally made television series which has won countless international awards and gained a worldwide audience for stories about the joy, misery and challenges of being a teenager. The show has been used in anti-drug campaigns, has drawn praise for its portrayal of mental health issues and explorations of bereavement, sexuality, bullying and gender stereotyping.

I have lost count of the letters we have been sent by viewers who tell us that they have been able to approach their parents or teachers with their difficulties after watching the show. It is something that we take a great deal of pride in and which can unfortunately be eclipsed by some of the negative attention.

Our approach is not careless. We've created a supportive and protective environment for everyone working on the show. And of course abide by the law, and give respect to our work colleagues who in this case, are young energetic and exciting people with so much to offer to an imperfect world.

Lil B Is Cooking Up A Storm In 2011

MTV News takes the self-proclaimed 'Based God' on a date in Chinatown.
By Rya Backer

Lil B
Photo: MTV News

NEW YORK — If you aren't among the more than 120,000 Twitter followers of Lil B "The Based God" or the many fans of his freestyles, or the regulars on Dior Paint (a Tumblr site supposedly run by his stylist), you probably would have been a little confused by all the cooking going on at B's show earlier this month at Manhattan's Highline Ballroom. But after watching the many "chefs" doing B's signature dance, which literally involves miming the act of cooking, you'd probably also want to know a little more about the unusual rapper, whom we named a Mixtape Daily Fire Starter last year.

That's why MTV News met up with B for a First Date at Joe's Shanghai in Chinatown. Between dumplings and fried rice, the Berkeley, California MC, who released Angels Exodus last week, talked all about his Twitter, his recent success and his unique subgenre of music.

"Based music really is just doing what you feel, really letting the beats sink into you and letting the lyrics coat the beat," he explained. "It's really just about being yourself, though, and being positive. Doing what you want to do."

One thing that sets him apart is the Internet: B has over 150 MySpace pages, each one featuring unique tracks, and legions of aforementioned Twitter disciples who choose to show their devotion in rather interesting ways.

"A lot of guys show me love and want me to date their women," he said of his online fans. "It's an honor. And I will use that gift and their trust and I will do the right thing."

In return for such loyalty, he's given out about a dozen free mixtapes (including Rain in England, which he touts as hip-hop's first ambient mixtape), and he just as freely provides new songs as soon as they've been finished, often promising that they're "#rare." With gigs like the Coachella Music and Arts Festival on the horizon, and more new music promised, 2011 may be the year that we'll all be thanking Based God.

Juelz Santana Associate Hynief Arrested On Drug Charges

Police found marijuana and weapons during raid of "Santana" recording studio in New Jersey.

Skull Gang MC Hynief was arrested Thursday on drug charges following a raid on Dipset spitter Juelz Santana's recording studio.

Hynief, who was born Toby M. Raynor, was taken into custody on two counts of distribution of a controlled substance after a search of the "Santana" recording studio in Bergenfield, New Jersey turned up marijuana and weapons.

"Two fully loaded 9mm caliber handguns were found in the recording studio along with several boxes of ammunition. Additionally, seventeen (17) small clear zip-lock bags each containing a greenish brown vegetation, consistent with the appearance of Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were seized," Bergen County Prosecutor's Office spokesperson Maureen Parenta said in a statement.

Authorities executed the raid after a ten-month-long investigation. Police allege that Hynief distributed marijuana to an undercover cop on two occasions last summer, in June and July.

Hynief was held on $50,000 bail, but Juelz tweeted on Saturday that the rapper had been freed. "A! @HYNIEFSKULLGANG bailed out #whoooaaaaa," he wrote. An officer at the Bergen County Jail confirmed to MTV News that Hynief had been released.

The prosecutor's office didn't directly reference Juelz Santana, but the MC apologized on Twitter for missing an appearance in Chicago due to legal drama.

"If it ant 1 thing it's another, smh. Sorry to all the people in chi-town that came out last night I couldn't make It!! Trouble wit the law," he tweeted.

The raid happened the same day that Santana was forced to skip an MTV News RapFix Live reunion interview with his Dipset brethren, citing a skin issue.

A representative for Juelz did not respond to MTV News' request for comment at press time.

Kanye West Reveals Jay-Z Joint Album Watch The Throne Release Date

Yeezy also tweets that 'All of the Lights' video will be out next week, and his new solo album will drop in the summer.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

Kanye West has a busy 2011 ahead.

The superstar MC tweeted about a slew of forthcoming releases on Sunday (January 23), and revealed that not only will his joint album with Jay-Z drop soon, but fans can expect a follow-up to November's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy once the weather heats up.

"I'll be back this SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!! WATCH THE THRONE COMING IN 2 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!! 'Ye tweeted, adding that just months after the release of Fantasy he's gearing up for another solo outing. "MY NEW ALBUM COMING THIS SUMMER."

Yeezy also divulged that the visual to his colossal Fantasy posse cut, "All of the Lights," would be available soon, tweeting, "ALL THE LIGHTS VIDEO IN 1 WEEK!!!!!!" The Chicago rapper/producer also hinted that the vibe of his forthcoming tracks may have a classical touch, saying, "THIS IS HIGH END RAP MUSIC. I just threw some bassoon on this muthaf---a."

Jay-Z dished to MTV News in November that the duo's collaborative work will showcase 'Ye's finely tuned production skills.

"This is another level of that recording," Hov explained. "Because Kanye, I've seen him — really he's like a brother to me — I've seen him from the beginning to where he is now. And to see him as a producer and to see how he's growing as a producer and as an artist, for me, on another level, it's enjoyable. I'm watching the guy that I pretty much mentored become his own guy, with his own opinion. It's fantastic."

Frequent 'Ye and Jay collaborator Swizz Beatz has echoed Hov's "another level" description, telling MTV News earlier this month that judging from the Throne sessions he's participated in, the rap titans — who have already dropped the Lex Luger-produced single "H.A.M." — are "going to continue pushing the envelope."

"People don't understand that hip-hop got started from being rebellious to any rules," Swizz said. "Hip-hop has no rules, and the only reason hip-hop started getting rules [was] because of radio airplay, sales, different spins and trying to reach out to another audience. But Jay and Kanye got the audience already so they can do what they want to do, and I think that's what they doing, which is a great move."

What do you think Kanye West and Jay-Z's album will sound like? Let us know in the comments!

Lil Wayne Calls Shooting 'Welcome To My Hood' Video 'Scary'

'I don't know about these n---as, but I'm scared of heights,' he tells MTV News on the set of DJ Khaled's single.
By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by James "FLX" Smith

Even though the track "Welcome to My Hood" dropped just two weeks ago, DJ Khaled wasted no time getting his superstar homies to the M.I.A. to shoot the accompanying video.

Khaled — along with Lil Wayne, Plies, Rick Ross and T-Pain — headed to the Overton area of Miami on Thursday to shoot the 'hood-centric visual and told MTV News that the clip will reflect the same rugged bombast of the posse cut.

"We going in," he said, with his trademark hype-the-hell-out-of-everything energy. "This the movie: 'Welcome to My Hood,' biggest record in the country, hurtin' the streets right now."

Director Gil Green, who has helmed tons of Khaled visuals, said the video will demonstrate what the Miami DJ is known for: packing his visuals with A-list hip-hop names.

"DJ Khaled, he always brings the all-star team, and that's what he's doing today," he said. Green added that he was on hand to add artistic finesse to the clip. "We shooting a movie-type video — a lot of cinematic camera work and flavor and a lot of 'hood stuff."

Frequent Khaled collaborator T-Pain said the single from the We the Best Forever star's first Cash Money project is a follow-up to another major record, which also features the Auto-Tune king, alongside Trick Daddy, Ross and Plies.

"This one's special, 'cause everyone was asking for 'I'm So Hood' part two, and that's what we giving everybody," Pain explained. "So, you know, in due time, we gonna get to everyone's request, but right now, we just working on 'I'm So Hood' part two, 'Welcome to My Hood.' It's part two, and it's gonna do just as good as 'I'm So Hood.' "

"I'm So Hood (Remix)" alum Wayne was also around for the fun — although he did cop to getting shaken up while filming one of the scenes on a raised platform.

"We just shot a shot up there; it was super scary," Weezy said. "I don't know about these n---as, but I'm scared of heights."

Aside from briefly facing his fear for a dope "Hood" shot, Wayne, who was accompanied by Cash Money boss Birdman and Young Money honcho Mack Maine, maintained he was feeling good otherwise and admitted he had another mission to tackle off set: finding ladies.

"I'm fresh out," he said. " ... Holla at ya boy if you see me in the streets, baby."

What do you think the "Welcome to My Hood" video will look like? Let us know in the comments!

'American Idol' Experts Talk Steven Tyler, Early Faves

'Idol' watchers praise New Orleans standouts and a Simon-less panel that seems to 'having a blast.'
By Gil Kaufman

Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson on the season premiere of "American Idol"
Photo: FOX

Despite less-than-stellar initial ratings, "American Idol" is coming out of the blocks for its 10th season with something even more important than audience share, particularly for a reality show hitting late middle age, and that's buzz.

With a format that is well-beyond familiar by now, the injection of fresh blood via new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez has amped up the watercooler talk for a show that some had predicted was on the decline. Despite fears that the show would stumble without the harsh guiding hand of departed go-to judge Simon Cowell, MTV News' , said instead of mourning the loss of King Cowell, he's praising the rise of Tyler.

"If anything, Steven Tyler's wacky addition proved that it's not a 'mean judge' that keeps me jazzed for 'Idol.' It's an unhinged one," said Cantiello about the entertaining, unpredictable shenanigans pulled out by Tyler in the first two nights of audition episodes this week. "Truth be told, I never realized how much I missed Paula [Abdul] last year. Tyler's colorful language, zany metaphors and deafening jangly man-jewelry was just the entertaining wild card the two-night premiere needed to give it a must-see facelift."

Cantiello was glad that the new trio, which also includes sole returning judge Randy Jackson, didn't fall into the same old "mean Simon" and "too-nice Paula" tropes. Lopez easily mixed Abdul's sweetness with an undercurrent of Cowell's honesty, while Tyler deftly pinwheeled between wacky Paula-isms amid stinging putdowns. And already he's delivered one of the season's top lines in his zinger to belcher Michael Perotto courtesy of "Tommy Boy": "Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child?"

MJ Santilli, founder of one of the leading "Idol" blogs, MJsBigBlog.com, agreed with Cantiello, calling Tyler the "breakout" star on the show so far. "The new panel seems to be having a blast," she said. "Fun has been sorely missing from the judges' table the past couple of years. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez's enthusiasm has energized Randy Jackson. The fresh, new panel has me not missing Simon Cowell at all. Yet."

The real test, though, will be when the show goes live on March 1, which will provide proof of whether the apparent camaraderie among the three is real or the product of clever editing.

But what about, you know, the singers, who are ostensibly the focus of the show? Santilli said the New Jersey singers on Wednesday night were mostly weak, but maybe that was because they held back the best stuff in order to let the new panelists shine and get some traction. "The New Orleans hopefuls had more standouts," she said of Thursday night's bunch. "At least, there are a couple that I remember, like the two teen tenors, Brett Loewenstern and Jacee Badeaux."

With the age limit dropped to 15 this year, Santilli suspects the producers are gunning for a teen winner in season 10, but with high schoolers having struggled in the live shows last year, it's unclear if the young'uns can handle the pressure of performing in front of an audience.

With less jokey singers and a higher talent ratio on Thursday night, Cantiello also thought New Orleans offered up some promising contestants we might see again in Hollywood. "I can't say I'm looking forward to another three weeks of audition episodes, though," he added. "Let's get to the live shows already!"

Do you agree with our experts about the first two nights of "Idol" auditions? Tell us in the comments!
