Lady Gaga's Born This Way Is On Sale Again At Amazon for 99 Cents for Today

Seemingly in response to the bad publicity they received for a difficult digital download process when Lady Gaga's album Born This Way went on sale for 99 cents on its first day of release Monday, Amazon is now offering the collection for 99 cents again for another day promising a better customer experience. Hits Daily Double is reporting that Born This Way sold something in the range of 400,000 digital copies on Monday obliterating Coldplay's record for digital sales. Their album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends sold 288,000 digital copies in its first week of release. Projections for overall Born This Way sales in the first week are now in the 900,000-950,000 range. This would easily be the biggest sales week for an album since Taylor Swift sold over one million copies of Speak Now in its first week of release last fall. Any way you look at it Born This Way is a massive hit.

'Twilight' Actress Bryce Dallas Howard Is Pregnant

The child will be the second for Howard, who played evil vampire Victoria in 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.'
By Eric Ditzian

"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" star Bryce Dallas Howard is pregnant with her second child, a rep for the actress has told Us Weekly.

Howard and actor husband Seth Gabel ("Fringe") had their first son, Theo, in 2007. Details about how far along she is in her pregnancy or the sex of the child were not disclosed.

The 30-year-old actress, the daughter of director Ron Howard, has starred in "The Village," "Spider-Man 3" and "Terminator Salvation," in which she played a pregnant woman not too long after giving birth to Theo. But Howard is perhaps best known for playing the vampire Victoria in "Eclipse" — and for the circumstances under which she took on the role.

In July 2009, Summit Entertainment made a sudden announcement that it had decided to replace Rachelle Lefevre, who originated the part of the evil vampire in "Twilight" and its first sequel, "New Moon." Howard then stepped in. "It was actually a really unfortunate circumstance where the actress who everyone really cared deeply about, who has done an amazing job in this role, was unavailable," Howard told MTV News that December. "They were looking for someone to fill that slot. It was right before production actually happened, so of course there was intimidation there and feeling a huge responsibility to do my best."

This summer Howard appears opposite Emma Stone in "The Help," an adaptation of the New York Times #1 best-seller about segregation in '60s-era Mississippi. MTV News will actually be talking with Howard and Stone on Thursday as part of our MTV Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week, a five-day extravaganza in which we'll be debuting footage on MTV from some of this summer's hottest films and then sitting down for extended conversations online. So if you've got any questions for Howard, just tweet @MTVNews using the hashtag #spw.

Taylor Swift Explains How Her Songwriting Has Grown

Since recording her first album at 16, what's changed most is 'the kind of things you say when you're hurt.'
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Taylor Swift's musical evolution has been pretty clearly aligned with her age. While she's writing about love and heartbreak, as she did when she was a teenager, the way she expresses that joy and pain has grown from the puppy-love lyrics to more mature reflections.

Back in the day, on her self-titled debut album, she was writing odes to country superstars, like in "Tim McGraw," and using metaphors to try to understand emotions that she hadn't yet fully experienced. With a career in full swing and a highly publicized love life, three albums later, it's apparent that Swift drew on real-life experiences for Speak Now.

When she sat down with MTV News earlier this week during "MTV First: Taylor Swift" Sway asked what she felt about her musical coming of age. "I don't know," she said. "I think retrospect will tell a lot. Years from now [and] I'll look back and go, 'I didn't know anything then.' "

Swift said the biggest difference between her teenage songs and her current ones is "the kind of things you say when you're hurt."

"I had this song called 'Picture to Burn,' that's talking about how 'I hate your truck,' and 'I hate that you ignored me,' 'I hate you,' " she explained. "Now, the way that I would say that and the way that I would feel that kind of pain is a lot different."

But Swift has no regrets about her earlier songs. "But I think that my first record came out when I was 16, the next one, Fearless, came out when I was 18 and this one came out when I was 20, so I think there's a lot of personal growth.

"I look back on the record I made when I was 16, and I'm so happy I made it," she continued. "I got to immortalize those emotions that when you're so angry, you hate everything. It's like recording your diary over the years, and that's a gift."

What do you think about Swift's growth as a musician? Tell us in the comments!

Lady Gaga Recalls Beyonce's Inspiration In MTV's 'Inside The Outside'

After being dropped by Island Def Jam, Gaga saw a Destiny's Child video and decided, 'I want that.'
By James Montgomery

Lady Gaga
Photo: MTV News

Sometime around 2006, Lady Gaga wasn't Lady Gaga. Sure, she was using the name back then, but she was still little more than a Lower East Side oddity, not the iconic, globe-spanning superstar she has since become. And so, she was understandably elated to score a meeting — and a subsequent deal — with Island Def Jam impresario L.A. Reid.

But after a few months, for reasons never really explained, her phone calls stopped being returned and she was summarily dropped from the label. In hindsight, it was just a minor bump on her road to stardom, but at the time, Gaga was crushed. It's a pain she's never quite forgotten, as she explained in the just-premiered "Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside" documentary.

"I remember when I got dropped from my first record label, I just said, 'Mommy, let's go see Grandma,' " Gaga recalled. "And I cried on my grandmother's couch. She looked at me, and she goes, 'I'm going to let you cry for the rest of the day, and then you have to stop crying, and you have to go kick some ass.' "

Devastated, but determined, Gaga set forth to do just that. And in addition to her grandmother's words, she drew inspiration from a rather unlikely source — one that would also prove oddly prescient in the years to come.

"You know, I've never told Beyoncé this, but I remember laying on my grandmother's couch crying, and a Destiny's Child video came on," she said. "I remember watching Beyoncé thinking, 'Oh, she's a star. I want that. I want to be on MTV.' And now I'm in music videos with Beyoncé."

It's because of those early rejections that Gaga has learned to savor her success. After all, she's certainly proved her naysayers wrong.

"The commercial success that I've had has been mind-blowing," she said. "I'm the girl that everyone said 'No' and shook their head and said 'I don't get it.' "

Well, it seems that millions of people around the world "get it" now.

What was the most interesting thing you learned from watching "Inside the Outside"? Let us know in the comments!

Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner Meet MTV Movie Awards Host Jason Sudeikis

'SNL' star gets a little creepy with the nominees in new promos for the show.
By Eric Ditzian

Kristen Stewart
Photo: MTV

Ever since "Twilight" sank its fangs into the pop-culture landscape, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner have played major roles at the MTV Movie Awards. For the past few shows, they've appeared in movie spoofs, introduced exclusive franchise footage, kissed their co-stars and even accidently dropped a Golden Popcorn onstage.

For the 2011 Movie Awards, the actors decided to get involved in the action a little bit earlier. Not that they had a choice in the matter, as two new promo spots make clear. Host Jason Sudeikis follows up on his desire to meet the nominees before showtime (he's already shared face time with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Stone and Leighton Meester), and the "SNL" funnyman surprises the "Twilight" stars in some unlikely places.

In Stewart's clip, she has just settled in to get her hair cut, when Sudeikis pops into her dressing room. "You're not my hairdresser," she tells him. "Good eye!" he responds. But the two quickly hit it off, and it's not long before he's plopping a bowl on her head and snipping away. Say goodbye to Bella Swan's long locks!

In the other spot, Lautner hails a New York City cab, only to realize Sudeikis is behind the wheel, though he admits to being "a terrible driver." Lautner tries to escape, but the Movie Awards host locks the doors. "That's weird," the Twi-werewolf tells him. Weirder still is that Sudeikis confesses he stole the taxi, and as the police sirens swirl in the background, he leaves poor Taylor locked in the car plaintively crying, "Jason!"

Hopefully, he'll find his way out by June 5, when the 2011 MTV Movie Awards air live at 9 p.m. ET from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. Voting in all categories, from Best Villain to Best Line from a Movie, is now under way at MovieAwards.MTV.com. Voting is set to close on June 4. But voting for Best Movie will stay open through the show itself, meaning you have the chance to affect the night's biggest winner up until the very last minute.

Will vampires and werewolves own the 2011 MTV Movie Awards? Can wizards or dream thieves steal the Golden Popcorn? Find out on June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. To get into the magical movie mood, we're kicking off a Sneak Peek Week starting on May 30 — five days of exclusives and interviews with the casts of "Fright Night, "Horrible Bosses" and more. Check out everything there is to know about Sneak Peek Week and the Movie Awards at MovieAwards.MTV.com!

Doug Stanhope talks it up with the LA Times

Roadrunner Records first comedy act, Doug Stanhope, has joined forces with the LA Times to talk all things from The Man Show to murder.  See what the fans had to ask Stanhope below!

STANHOPE FANS: Do you think social media is a positive or detrimental thing?

STANHOPE: It's like a dildo on a power-drill. It depends on how you use it.

Why did The Man Show really get canceled?

The last phone call I made to Man Show execs was drunk from a comedy club parking lot in Atlanta saying that Rogan and I wanted to get gay-married on the next season (Maine gay marriage being a top story at the time.) The next we heard the show was canceled.

Why is our world consistently run by morons?

I can't speak for the history of the world, but democracy demands that idiocy counts the same as genius so it forces the middle mind to the front. And being that genius is less likely to pick up an axe-handle for God 'n' Country, stupid is stronger still.

What do you do for a living?

Think Bernie Madoff on a much smaller scale. He was actually good in his early years and used his reputation to bilk people later on.

What's it like having a fan base that is 50% educated liberals and 50% total fucking morons?

I love the morons who annoy anyone who would define themselves as educated liberals. Most of my audience think of the other people as morons and I think most of my audience are morons based mostly on their Facebook comments.

Fuck, Marry, Kill? Patton Oswalt, Louis CK, Jim Norton.

Fuck is easily Norton. It's only a matter of who will bleed or cry the most. Marry? Patton. He drinks, so we could at least have a nice conversation whilst I bleed and cry. CK is dead, since I'm filming a part on his show this month and I can't act and he has final cut.

If you had to kill one person who would it be? Why?

Dr Drew. No, Michael Moore. Oh wait, Nancy Grace. Did I say Sheriff Joe Arpaio yet? No, no, Dr Drew. And that guy in that car that just looked at me all fucky-eyed. And everyone at TMZ. Plus the one guy I plan on killing and getting away with who I prefer to remain anonymous. Actually I just wanna kill his kid so I can watch him cry for all his days. How many? Just one? Tough question. And if you have to ask "Why," you probably should be at the show.

If there was a sexual move named after you, what would be the Stanhope?

Blowing your load and still be yanking it 10 years later.

'Hangover Part II' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

With the comedy sequel premiering on Thursday (May 26), we prepare you for what to expect when the 'Hangover' boys head to Bangkok.
By Eric Ditzian

Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis
Photo: Warner Bros.

" 'The Hangover' was lightning in a bottle," director Todd Phillips told us back in September of his $467 million-grossing comedy. "You can't judge other successes or other movies based on it."

Well, what if you just so happen to catch that lightning again? And what if, it turns out, you managed to bottle a whole lot more this time? Then can we do some comparing and contrasting with the original? Perhaps even Phillips wouldn't object at this point, with some industry insiders suggesting that "The Hangover Part II" could reel in more than $120 million domestically over the five-day Memorial Day holiday weekend. No R-rated film in history has opened to more than $100 million in box-office receipts.

So how did Phillips & Co. reach this ultra-lucrative point? To understand that, we have to flash all the way back to before the June 2009 release of the original "Hangover," when the film was testing so well in early screenings that Warner Bros. started making plans for a sequel. Just after the flick opened to $45 million, another "Hangover" was officially a go. Where the filmmakers went from there is something you'll find out below in another MTV News cheat sheet: everything you need to know about "The Hangover Part II."

Sobering Up "We were thinking of sequel ideas when we were shooting, which sounds cocky, but we were doing it more because it was just fun to talk about ideas while hanging out on the set," Phillips told us in June 2009. "Two weeks ago I was saying, 'Let's see how it works out.' Now that the movie has really connected, it's something we're doing for sure."

The question was, would all four stars — Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha — return for a new adventure? And how would Phillips spin another "Hangover" story after a ridiculous, couldn't-possibly-happen-twice tale set in Las Vegas? By December of that year, Phillips seemed to have his answer — he just wasn't going to let the secret get out. "It doesn't take place in Vegas, but it's certainly the same characters," he revealed.

Then Phillips and his team kept their heads down and worked on a script — one which, we found out nearly a year later, would take the Wolf Pack to Thailand for the wedding of Helms' character, Stu. True to Galifianakis' word, shooting kicked off in the fall of 2010.

Glug, Glug, Glug Our first peek at the "Hangover Part II" production came in October 2010, with a shot of the boys in an airport (Ontario doubling for LAX) on their way to Southeast Asia. That same month, news broke that Mel Gibson had signed on for a brief cameo as a tattoo artist. But after cast protests reportedly cropped up, the controversial actor was dropped from the film and Liam Neeson was hired to take over the role. (Neeson, in turn, was eventually replaced by Nick Cassavetes). "We just had a long talk about it, I explained it," Phillips told us of his conversation with Gibson to let him know about the recasting. "He certainly understood, you know. He wasn't happy, but he certainly wasn't upset. I mean, it just was kind of a bummer because I think he understood the intention of the casting and the role."

Production wrapped up on January 1 of this year, and a teaser trailer dropped the next month. "It's truly a teaser, so it might end up frustrating more than solving questions," Phillips told us shortly before the promo arrived. He wasn't kidding: We could tell that the pals were in Thailand, that things were not turning out very well for them and that Helms somehow got stamped with a Mike Tyson-style facial tattoo. But other than that, plot info was hard to come by. A full "Hangover Part II" trailer appeared in April, giving us more information about the storyline. The shenanigans get started after Stu's rehearsal dinner, when one beachside drink leads to the guys waking up in a shady hotel. Stu's soon-to-be brother-in-law is missing; Ken Jeong's hilarious gangster, Mr. Chow, is hanging out; and everyone has to get back to the resort before the wedding ceremony is set to begin. Helms told us. "Oh, and also hilarious. I forgot that ... Lots of craziness happened on set, and you'll see all of that in the movie."

Cooper declared that he believes the second film is funnier than the first, which made any initial nervousness secondary to his enthusiasm. "I think it was more excitement once we got the second script, which was really wonderful — actually stronger than the first one," Cooper said. "It was just utter excitement to play these characters again and hopefully deliver a movie where fans will be excited to see what happened. We get to see where [Galifianakis'] Alan lives, we get to see Stu progress to two years, [my] Phil as well, so I think it was just exciting to hopefully provide a lot more comedy for people who liked the first one."

That's exactly what Phillips is hoping too. "I think there are very few sequels that have been made that live up to or exceed their first film. 'The Godfather' is the first one," he told us. "We had always planned on calling it 'The Hangover 2,' and when we finished the script, I changed the cover page and wrote 'The Hangover Part II,' because I think the film lives up to or exceeds the first one. It was very much a nod to 'The Godfather.' "

'Hangover Part II' Stars Promise 'A Lot More Comedy' In Sequel

'It was just utter excitement to play these characters again,' Bradley Cooper tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner

Given the incredible box-office success of 2009's mega-hit comedy "The Hangover," it seemed as though a future installment of the outlandish antics of "Wolf Pack" members Alan, Stu and Phil would be inevitable. Which brings us to "The Hangover Part II," which is opening in theaters this weekend.

MTV News caught up with the men behind the magic recently, actors Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, who not only explained Cooper's head-shaving skills, but also revealed that the main castmembers were originally hesitant to venture into sequel territory.

"I think it was more excitement once we got the second script, which was really wonderful — actually stronger than the first one," Cooper said of getting the gang back together again. "It was just utter excitement to play these characters again and hopefully deliver a movie where fans will be excited to see what happened. We get to see where Alan lives, we get to see Stu progress to two years, Phil as well, so I think it was just exciting to hopefully provide a lot more comedy for people who liked the first one."

Helms has also said that there was some hesitancy to try and make lightning strike twice in a second film.

"We had no idea that 'The Hangover' would do what it did, so we were all kind of blown away," Helms told us at a New York screening of the film. "But then very quickly a conversation for a sequel started, and we were all kind of like, 'I don't know.' And then Todd showed us the script, and it was amazing, so we were like, 'Yeah, let's do that.' "

Regarding what audiences can expect from "Hangover Part II," Helms said to expect a bit more of the same.

"[It's] disturbing, horrifying, unnerving," he said. "Oh, and also hilarious. I forgot that ... Lots of craziness happened on set, and you'll see all of that in the movie."

King Diamond coverband, THEM, shake things up in the Roadrunner office!

Singing as King Diamond in a coverband is one helluva role to fill, but Troy "King Troymond" Norr of Them seems to fill those Danish shoes quite nicely.  Just yesterday Troy checked by the Roadrunner Records office with former King Diamond bassist Hal Patino in tow to talk to A&R and music fanatic Monte Conner.

Monte doesn't go easy on the frontman either.  Rather, he demands a few off-the-cuff vocals from some of King Diamond's most classic (and impossibly high pitched) songs.  Check to see Troy nail the requests down pat!  (I especially enjoy "Abigail"!)

For a limited time only, Hal Patino- a man once on the stage and in the studio with King Diamond himself, will join Them for some select east coast dates.  If that's not a testament to the band's credibility, I don't know what is.   Shows are coming up quickly!

For their latest single "I Feel Like Dancin'" All Time Low have put together a meta-video designed to show the trials and tribulations of major label promotions. 'Hangover 2' Stars Talk 'Chaos' At New York Premiere

Ed Helms tells MTV News that the comedy sequel is 'disturbing, horrifying, unnerving ... oh, and also hilarious.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Ed Helms
Photo: MTV News

NEW YORK CITY — Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and director Todd Phillips all showed up at the Landmark Sunshine Theater on Monday night to celebrate the premiere of "The Hangover Part II," the follow-up to 2009's hit buddy comedy about the aftermath of a lost night of debauchery in Las Vegas. Helms told MTV News on the red carpet that he never expected that he and his castmates would get back together for more partying and antics.

"We had no idea that 'The Hangover' would do what it did so we were all kind of blown away," Helms recalled. "But then very quickly a conversation for a sequel started and we were all kind of like, 'I don't know.' And then Todd showed us the script and it was amazing, so we were like, 'Yeah, let's do that.' "

The "that" turned out to be just as crazy as the first time around, with Helms, Cooper and Zach Galifianakis trying to piece together another lost evening of overindulgence, this time in Bangkok, Thailand. So, how would Helms describe the new flick? "Disturbing, horrifying, unnerving," he said. "Oh, and also hilarious. I forgot that ... Lots of craziness happened on set and you'll see all of that in the movie."

Phillips' description of the movie seems to mirror that of Helms. "Here's what it is: It's like the movie is about chaos [and] to capture chaos, you have to go to chaos, and we went to Bangkok," the director explained. Well, it seems that some people got a bit too caught up in the chaos.

"We lost them to their various vices and addictions," he added. "And in Bangkok, I think we had the same problem [that we had in Las Vegas for the first film]. It makes it a little harder [when people get caught up in the chaos]. There's always three or four guys that seem like weak links, that are, and you can tell when you're going to lose a crew guy to their vices and their wife comes and gets them and puts them in rehab and it gets better."

So how much are the "Hangover" stars like their characters in the film? "Well, we're exactly like the characters, but not how you think," Helms quipped. "I'm exactly like Zach, Zach's exactly like Bradley and Bradley's exactly like me, so go figure ... I have a huge beard and I'm a little portly."

Are you planning to see "The Hangover Part II" when it opens this weekend? Tell us in the comments.

New Lenny Kravitz Track Debuts In Jeep Commercial

In ancient times singers used to debut new songs on the radio or in concert. More recently the range of options has widened to include numerous online venues and, in the case of rock veteran Lenny Kravitz, car commercials.

Chrysler’s Jeep SUV division says the Grammy-winning artist is helping launch its latest advertising campaign for the 2011 Jeep Wrangler, which includes a new track, “Rock Star City Life,” from his coming album “Black and White America,” which is set for release in August.  Jeep says it sought to work with Kravitz in part because he has been driving the same Jeep for 16 years.

“Not only is Kravitz an outstanding singer, songwriter and performer, he is a long-time Jeep owner and fan of the brand,” said Jeep brand boss Mike Manley. He said the singer, whose first album came out in 1989, “understands the core values of the Jeep brand that include an authentic style, a no holds barred-adventurous approach to life, as well as mastering the ability to withstand the test of time.”

Last week, "RapFix Live" brought fans intro the world of Eminem and Royce Da 5'9" when MTV News' Sway Calloway sat down with Bad Meets Evil, chatting about the duo's upcoming EP Hell: The Sequel. This week, we have the biggest Boss of them all: Rick Ross.

Ricky Rozay has been making some serious moves, and on Wednesday, he will bring his Maybach Music Group to the "RapFix" couch. After taking his label over to Warner Music Group and signing next-gen rap standouts Wale, Meek Mill and Pill, Ross is in full promo mode for his MMG compilation, Self Made, which hit stores Monday (May 23). Fueled by street bangers like "Tupac Back," "Pandemonium" and the Jadakiss-assisted "600 Benz," Rozay is ready for his rap takeover.

Be sure to tune in Wednesday when Sway will talk to the Teflon Don about his rise from behind-the-scenes ghostwriter to label CEO. Sway will even ask Ross about Drake's verse on DJ Khaled's "I'm On One" and whether the Boss thinks Drizzy took a shot at Jay-Z on their collaborative track. You don't want to miss this one.

D.C.'s Wale will also show up and talk about going from the tutelage of Mark Ronson to his new deal with MMG. Meek will be in tow to talk about how he transformed his street grind into his rap dream and speak on his relationship with incarcerated rap star T.I. Last but not least, Pill will describe to Sway the inner workings of the trap.

You can also expect MMG to spit their hottest 16's. There is no telling what is going to go down on this week's episode of "RapFix Live"!

Roadrunner artists reach out to Roy of Stone Sour after his stroke

In light of the recent announcement concerning Stone Sour drummer, Roy Mayorga's recent stroke, many artists on and off the Roadrunner team have reached out to wish their best on a speedy recovery.  The stroke caused the band's current tour to be canceled, in the hope that the time off will help get Roy back to 100% as soon as possible.

Bands like Dream TheaterDevilDriver, and of course, Stone Sour themselves, have turned over to Twitter to offer some words of support.   Here's what some of the guys had to say:

Dez Fafara (DevilDriver): "Heartfelt goes out to Roy Mayorga from STONE SOUR who suffered a stroke! Fast recovery, brother. Love and endurance golden orbs around you, Roy."

Mike Portnoy (former-Dream Theater): "All my love and positive vibes going out to my good bro Roy Mayorga...get well soon, buddy!"

Corey Taylor (Stone Sour, Slipknot): "Thank you so much, everyone. I know Roy appreciates all your love and thoughts. I do as well. We will keep you all posted about everything."

We at Roadrunner would also like to send the best to Roy and cannot wait to see him back on stage again.

Baptized In Blood Drummer takes on Mike Mangini's old job

Steve Bolognese, former drummer for the Canadian thrashers, Baptized in Blood, has a new job other than being the man from behind the kit in a killer metal band.  Now that Mike Mangini has joined Dream Theater, there’s been an opening at Boston's Berklee College of Music (where Mangini resigned from to join DT).  Steve Bolognese applied, and got the job.  Seeing that Steve was once a student of Mangini’s, it seems like the role has been filled by the right man.

Steve says: "As the world knows, Mike Mangini has joined Dream Theater as their new drummer.  Mike was my drum teacher for years, beginning back in 2000. He is one of the most talented, dedicated drummers in the world, and also one of the most inspirational teachers one could ask for.  Unfortunately, Mike, or any of us for that matter, cannot be in two places at once. Therefore, he has recommended me to teach his classes at Berklee. It's an amazing opportunity and I'm totally honored.

"Mike is obviously irreplaceable, but I'm going to do my best to share the invaluable information that Mike has taught me. It always feels great to share the knowledge with aspiring students."

So it seems that not only did Bolognese score the job, but he was also recommended by Mangini, himself!  We are very impressed, but not surprised- Bolognese is one helluva drummer.

'X-Men' Star Jennifer Lawrence Was Intimidated By 'Gorgeous' Rebecca Romijn

Actress talks to MTV News about taking over Mystique role in 'First Class' prequel.
By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Jennifer Lawrence

Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and actress Rebecca Romijn pioneered the big-screen portrayal of Mystique, the blue-skinned, shape-shifting baddie, in three "X-Men" films. For 20-year-old Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence, who was tasked with taking on a young version of the mutant for the upcoming prequel, "X-Men: First Class," Romijn's performances might have proved helpful — if it weren't for one small thing.

"It would have made my job a lot easier if she wasn't the most gorgeous person in the world," Lawrence laughed in a recent MTV News interview. "I was like, 'Really?' "

"It was good because you can take physical traits, but it's an origin story so it's before she became who she is," she added.

Romijn's statuesque example wasn't the only thing that initially kept Lawrence, who won critical plaudits and Oscar and Golden Globe nods for her turn in "Winter's Bone" last year, from taking on the comic book adaptation. As she put, "It was a brainer."

But she gradually came around to the idea after going back and watching the first three "X-Men" films before her audition, diving into the script and hearing which other actors had been cast.

"It is huge, but the movies are fantastic and I watched them and became a huge fan," she explained. "After reading the script, I really loved the script and I loved the character and I was already a fan of the director, [Matthew Vaughn], and I was already a fan of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, so then it became a little bit more of a no-brainer."

Do you think Jennifer Lawrence will make a good Mystique? Tell us in the comments!

'American Idol' In 60 Seconds: Scotty And Lauren Sing To The End

Watch our second-to-last recap of the season, or, if you prefer, our last before the world ends.
By Jim Cantiello

Haley Reinhart is eliminated on "American Idol"
Photo: FOX

There's only one week left of "American Idol" season 10 (or one day before the end of the world), so if you have some last-minute cramming to do before the end, we suggest looking back at our previous "Idol" in 60 Seconds recaps. For now, here's the script rounding up everything you need to know about how America said goodbye to Haley and voted two country singers into the finale:

This week the top three got to sing three songs each, but in three rounds, two hours and nine songs, only two minutes mattered.

[Clip: Beyoncé's "Who Rule the World (Girls)" video.]

No, not Beyoncé's video, although ... [Jim grabs a personal recording device, speaks into it] Note to self: Memorize Beyoncé's dance moves before the world ends this Saturday.

Where was I? Oh, right! Haley Reinhart, whose Led Zeppelin cover was a groundbreaking collaboration with her dad AND with gravity!

But then things went from great to good to god awful, while Scotty and Lauren kept things country strong. Well, country able.

Hey, judges! Care to make this night all about you?

[Montage of judges: Randy: "I produced the version of it with Boyz II Men." J. Lo: "I was just performing to 20,000 people." Steven: "Lee Ann's a good friend of mine, too."]

You guys are in it to w... waste time.

On Thursday night's results show ... that's not Rihanna [showing Nicole Scherzinger's performance]. That's not Il Divo [showing Il Volo's performance].

I dare you to make this more unpleasant.

[Clip of Elle Fanning squealing during her interview with Seacrest.]

And hometown visits, where Haley fought the rain, Lauren's mom fought for screen time and Scotty fought the waterworks. But wait, did that bitch just steal a girl's donut?!!

[Clip: Lauren Alaina makes it to the finale with Scotty.]

Oh, America. You have no taste. OK, that's not fair. You do have taste ... for baby food!

Ding!
