Katy Perry Opener Ellie Goulding Talks 'Incredible' Tour

'I can pretend to be a rock star for a night,' singer/songwriter tells MTV News of playing large venues.
By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker

Although British singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding may not yet be as widely known in the U.S. as she is back home, a recent gig of hers has certainly helped that process along.

The 24-year-old electronic-pop-meets-folk artist joined Katy Perry for the final North American leg of her California Dreams Tour as Perry's opening act. Right before playing New York's Madison Square Garden, she caught up with MTV News to tell us about the experience.

"It's really nice to hear my songs in a stadium when they perhaps wouldn't be at this point," Goulding said with a smile. "It's not often that I hear my songs so epically big and loud. I can pretend to be a rock star for a night!"

Although soon she may no longer need to "pretend" anymore, Ellie admitted that she has to keep her nerves in check while playing large venues.

"I genuinely had nightmares of just finishing a song and it being like [awkward clap]," she laughed. "But actually they were really up for it!"

As far as Katy's diverse fanbase goes, Ellie felt a warm welcome from the arena crowd.

"Any time I moved or rocked out, they'd all cheer," she recalled. "It was a really warm reaction. When I went out and was wandering around, loads of people came up and wanted pictures and stuff."

The singer made sure to catch the main act and was blown away by what she saw.

"I watched Katy's show and was just like, 'Oh my goodness,' " she said. "I was just blown away by everything."

The rising star was very humble about her growing success, which has included massive crowds at her headliner shows in the U.K. She even performed at Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding reception last spring.

"I feel like I keep getting to play these amazing places [like] Madison Square Garden," she sighed. "I feel like if something happened to me tomorrow, God forbid, I can say that I've played these incredible venues, and as a musician, I've been able to fulfill the most incredible things. I feel like I'm still not at my peak yet. I feel like there's still a long way to go from here as a musician."

'Breaking Dawn' Best Scenes: Fans Share Their Picks

In 'Twilight' Tuesday, Twilighters tell MTV News their favorite moments.
By Kara Warner

With "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" still crushing all competition at the box office, it's clear from the film's overwhelming fan support that the highly anticipated instant hit will be raking in more dough in the coming weeks and months.

In last week's installment of "Twilight" Tuesday, we asked fans how many times they planned on seeing "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" in theaters, and their revelations were both impressive and astounding: One young woman had seen the film 19 times in the first six days and claimed that she wasn't finished yet. So, with those multiple viewings in mind — and the dedicated masses who have now seen the film enough times to re-enact it from memory — today's "Twilight" Tuesday is about fans' favorite scenes.

As expected, plenty of folks had trouble selecting just one favorite scene from the action-packed, 117-minute movie. In addition to the three early favorites — the honeymoon scene, birth scene and wedding scene — according to our quick poll, fans seem happiest with the family toasts at Edward and Bella's wedding and Jacob imprinting on Renesmee.

"Love wedding scene and Charlie's speech, also Jake's imprinting to Renesmee scene," Daniela Imrichova said.

"I feel the wedding speeches were a well-thought addition 2 the movie - since it wasnt in the books. LUV Emmet's the best!" gushed Kristen Grumbine.

"My favorite scene was Jake imprinting on Renesmee it really touched my heart that Jake finally found true love," Christine Waters chimed in.

"Jacob imprinting its perfect. I've seen it four times so far and still cry," admitted Desiree Kozlowski.

"I have already watched it 3 times. #Favoritepart = THE WHOLE MOVIE," wrote Valentina.

"I will keep going till they stop playing it!! And my favorite scene?? The whole movie was amazing! #obsessed," wrote Robyn Smyly.

Check out everything we've got on "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1."

Patrice O'Neal has died at age 41.

The news of his death was was confirmed by his co-star on "The Opie & Anthony Show." The comedian and radio personality suffered a stroke back in October.

O'Neal was best known for his work as a stand-up comedian but also appeared in several films like "25th Hour," "Scary Movie 4" and "Furry Vengeance." In addition to being a regular guest on Opie and Anthony's show, he also made multiple appearances on "Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn," "Chappelle's Show" and "The Office."

Click for photos from the life and career of Patrice O'Neal.

Just this past September, he was one of the many comedians who poked fun at Charlie Sheen during his "Comedy Central Roast." He also hosted VH1's "Web Junk 2.0" back in 2006. Earlier this year, his Comedy Central special "Elephant in the Room" premiered on the network.

For those who knew him best, it was his bigger-than-life personality that will be missed most. "Yes it's true that our pal Patrice O'Neal has passed away," Opie, a.k.a. Gregg Hughes, tweeted. "The funniest and best thinker i've ever known PERIOD. #devastated." He then tweeted out a link to a video of the late comedian laughing on the radio show, simply adding, "Patrice O'Neal Greatest Laugh EVER."

Born in Boston on December 7, 1969, O'Neal got his start on the stage and in the early '90s and moved to Los Angeles to shoot for the big leagues. Eventually, his stand-up career resulted in smaller roles in films, as well as the HBO comedy special "One Night Stand." He had been living in the New York area at the time of his death.

The New York Daily News reports that O'Neal died Monday night. Shortly after his October stroke, his friend and fellow comedian Jim Norton opened up about his condition on the radio. "We don't know how he is. We don't know how he's going to be," Norton said. "I didn't want to do this by myself. I wish we had more news for you."

Share your condolences for O'Neal's family and friends in the comments below.

Madonna, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A. Collabo Confirmed

M.I.A. and Minaj will appear on Madge's next album, due in 2012.
By Jocelyn Vena

Madonna fans have something to be thankful for. After much speculation, rapper M.I.A. has confirmed that she, along with Nicki Minaj, will work with Madonna on the Queen of Pop's new album. The rapper took to Twitter over the Thanksgiving holiday to confirm the rumors.

"Summond to NYC by bitchesses > MADONNA and NICKIMINAJ," M.I.A. tweeted on Saturday. "cofffffiiiiiiieeeeeeeeee it iz a good day to get me tho trustttt bitches."

Rumors of M.I.A. and Nicki's involvement on Madonna's album first surfaced last month on a Madonna fan site.

The track they reportedly will all appear on, "Give Me All Your Love," leaked earlier this month. The sample featured Nicki but not M.I.A., leading fans to wonder if the rumors that she would appear on Madge's album were true.

The leak may have pleased fans, but it left Madonna and her camp pretty unhappy. Shortly after the track hit the Web, Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary, took to Twitter to address the leak. "The plan was for new music to come out in the new year," he said. "I'm very happy with the positive reaction to the demo, but we are very upset with whoever leaked the song!!!!!!!! we are asking that the fans please help us police any more leaks. we have a lot in store for you. but please respect the process."

Madonna, via Oseary, also expressed her feelings about the leak. "Madonna told me this morning 'my true fans wouldn't do this,' " he wrote. "Whoever is responsible for this leak, we ask that you please stop!"

The as-yet-untitled new album is expected to drop in the spring of 2012 and will feature production from Ray of Light producer William Orbit. Madonna will also perform at the Super Bowl in February, which coincides with the release of her film "W.E."

Black Eyed Peas Go On Hiatus After Star-Studded Miami Show

Cee Lo Green, Jason DeRulo, Sean Kingston joined them for the gig.

The Black Eyed Peas had a lot to be thankful for on Thursday, namely, a major break from nearly non-stop touring and recording. The multiplatinum group announced before their show on Wednesday night at Miami's Sun Life Stadium that they were going on indefinite hiatus to work on other projects.

"Tonight is our graduation. It's a very special night for all of us," said singer Fergie at the gig. "We're so thankful to be sharing this night together." The band didn't go into the good night all alone, though, as they packed the show will appearances from a number of pals, including T-Pain, Sean Kingston, Cee Lo Green, Jason DeRulo and Queen Latifah.

The past 10 months have been action packed for the hip-pop act, as they played the Super Bowl halftime show
in February, recorded a video for Japanese tsunami relief in March and played the iHeartRadio Festival in July. They were slated to perform at the Michael Jackson Forever tribute concert
in Cardiff, Wales last month, but scratched at the last minute due to "unavoidable circumstances."

They made it official with an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday morning, during which Will said that they "always have two cycles of records and then we take a break." He explained that the quartet has lasted this long because they often take breaks to work on solo projects and get their personal lives in order and then come back and "make beautiful music."

It's not like the Peas will be off the map entirely after three years of touring in support of The Beginning and The E.N.D.. Will.i.am just released a new single from his upcoming solo album, #willpower, featuring Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger entitled "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)," Taboo plans to spend more time with his family and promote his book, "Falling Up," while apl.de.ap will reportedly focus on being an education ambassador in the Philippines and Fergie will do more solo recording and perhaps start a family.

Drake's Take Care Tops Billboard

Michael Bublé, Adele round out the top three on the albums chart.
By Rob Markman

Drake has a lot to be thankful for this week. His sophomore LP, Take Care, officially debuts in the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart Wednesday (November 23). "I can't even find the words to express my appreciation. ... 'Thank you and I owe you' is all that comes to mind ... truly," Drizzy tweeted Tuesday night in reaction to the news.

SoundScan tallies that Drizzy pushed over 631,000 copies of the album, which was released on November 15. It was forecasted that the Young Money soldier would sell as many as 700,000 copies, but he fell just south of that, not that he or anyone at his label is sweating over sales. YM CEO Lil Wayne told MTV News that he was more concerned with how Take Care is received critically.

"Pardon me for sounding however I sound with this statement, but we rich as sh--, so numbers and record sales, that doesn't matter to none of us," Wayne said. "We just want to get a perfect point across, a swell opinion across."

Michael Bublé's Christmas lands at #2, leading the pack of other holiday albums including Justin Bieber's Under the Mistletoe (#5) and Glee: The Music, the Christmas Album, Vol. 2 (#6). Adele's 21 continues its reign, moving another 112,000 units this week, easily putting the U.K. singer in the #3 position. Andrea Bocelli's Concerto: One Night in Central Park debuts in the #4 slot, while Now 40, Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto, the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" soundtrack and Susan Boyle's Someone to Watch Over Me round out the top 10.

Childish Gambino also scores a huge win in his first week, selling 52,000 copies of Camp, but last week's top album, Blue Slide Park by Mac Miller, slides down to #24, selling another 25,000 copies independently.

Which albums did you pick up last week? Tell us in the comments!

Rihanna's Talk That Talk: The Reviews Are In!

Critics call RiRi's sixth album 'often great' and 'relentlessly catchy.'
By John Mitchell

Rihanna's much-anticipated Talk That Talk hit stores Monday on a wave of near-universal praise from critics. The album, which can already claim the #1 song in the country, "We Found Love" featuring Calvin Harris, is earning the Barbadian pop superstar the best reviews of her commercially massive career.

MTV News' James Montgomery already declared Talk That Talk "not only the best effort of her career, but arguably the best pop album of 2011," an assessment echoed by the New York Times, People, Rolling Stone and SPIN.

"The best songs on this lively and often great album sound synth-perfect for that time [the early 1990s]. 'We Found Love' almost criminally recalls the swinging Crystal Waters singles, with triumphant percussion somewhere between church and seventh-inning stretch," the Times writes. " 'Where Have You Been' is even better, with hard, chilly synths, snares from the poppier side of house music, and Rihanna moving in and out of a curled Siouxsie Sioux tone."

In a three-and-a-half -star review (out of four), People calls Talk That Talk "one of 2011's best pop-diva statements," while Spin awards the set an 8 out of 10, complimenting the "occasionally perfect pop" songs on the record and noting the set is easily Rihanna's most cohesive to date.

Rolling Stone also notes that Talk is far more than a collection of singles. "Rihanna's sixth album is her tightest, most assured yet — a relentlessly catchy and danceable pop album, with first-rate contributions from top songwriter-producers," the magazine writes.

Many critics also seem pleased that the pop star is moving away from the darker, brooding material that marked her last two records, Rated R and Loud. Those albums appeared to be heavily influenced by her troubled relationship with Chris Brown, and, as noted in Entertainment Weekly's B-plus review, often "equated falling for someone with feeling tortured."

On Talk, RiRi instead approaches the topics of love and sex — the album's principal themes — with a less-heavy hand, even admitting on "Roc Me Out": "I'll let you in on a dirty secret/ I just want to be loved."

While the album is mostly earning raves, Pitchfork had a few complaints — mostly that the brief set (the 11-track album clocks in at a mere 38 minutes) never fully realizes its potential.

In its summation of the album, Billboard calls Talk "a fleshed-out statement that captures Rihanna's relentless drive and will likely keep her on top. This album's not a victory lap; it's a whole new race."

Whether the mostly stellar reviews will translate into strong sales for Rihanna, who set a Billboard chart record by racking up 20 Top-10 singles faster than any solo artist, with "We Found Love," remains to be seen.

Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick and bassist David Ellefson took part in a signing at Gama Music in Monterrey, Mexico on Monday, November 21, and Ellefson has now posted a video below, showing the line of fans outside the store. Check it out!

Megadeth's Central and South American tour was a huge success, and mainman Dave Mustaine posted the following message on the band's Facebook page:

To all of the Mexican, Brazilian, Chilean, and Argentine fans,

This has been the best South and Central American tour I have ever done. Your voices when you sing has been loud and clear, and you have made me feel amazing.

I was worried that we would not be welcomed this good because of my surgery, and I have been concerned because the Doctors told me not to do ANYTHING except play and go right back to my room, so I haven't been able to come out and visit with you. Just know that you have been really kind and extremely metal! I get so much hope and strength from you! I can't wait to come back and we are still here! Isn't that loco?!?

Anyway, I love you all, and I want you to know that there is something very, very different about you. The whole world has started singing "Aguante Megadeth," but you sing the loudest!

Maybe this tour they will challenge you and try to sing louder than you, but I am not sure that they can.

I think its going to be time to release a new live record from down in South or Central America again. Whaddya think?

That's it from me for now. Its time to board my plane for Colombia, so "adios" and I love you all so very much!

Justin Bieber And Boyz II Men Unwrap 'Fa La La' Video

Black-and-white video showcases Bieber's heartfelt singing with his idols.
By Rob Markman

Shawn Stockman and Justin Bieber
Photo: LiveWire Entertainment

Christmas is right around the corner, but the Biebs is already in the holiday spirit. On Wednesday (November 23), Justin Bieber dropped the video for "Fa La La" with Boyz II Men. There are no reindeer or presents under the tree; instead, Justin and the Philadelphia R&B outfit sing of a warm love that will endure through the holiday season.

The black-and-white clip begins in an empty loft, where Bieber sings alone, with his arms flailing and face slightly scrunching every time he hits those heartfelt notes. Justin's solo intro leads way to a collaborative bridge, where Boyz II Men join in. "Baby you de-serve eve-ry-thing you want/ It's your night," they all sing in harmony as the "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye" vocalists join the teenage star in song on the front porch of a brick house.

No elaborate set needed. With an empty city as their backdrop, the four crooners throw down in an old-fashioned sing-off. As the track builds, BIIM's Wanya Morris really gets into it, pounding his chest and kicking one leg up to accentuate his performance. Bieber, who is dressed in a white tee and slim-cut leather jacket, tugs on his collar to let you just how much his words mean to him.

On November 1, Bieber teased the clip when he tweeted, "Killed it with @BoyzIImen on DWTS and then just shot a video for our song #FALALA with @colintilley - great night! living a dream. Thanku," in reference to his appearance on "Dancing With The Stars" and the Colin Tilley-directed "Fa La La" video.

Maybe some of Boyz II Men's subject matter was a bit mature for the pint-size Bieber, but they influenced him nonetheless. "He told us his mom didn't want him to sing 'I'll Make Love to You,' so he'd sneak and go sing it somewhere," Wanya Morris told MTV News. "It's also good to know we've influenced such a good artist. It's something that makes us feel we've accomplished [something and] we're doing our job, [that] a guy so young and so into his craft [is] influenced by three guys from Philadelphia that love to sing."

Yes, "Fa La La" is the latest single from JB's holiday LP, Under the Mistletoe, but Tilley and company didn't overload the video with Christmas themes as to so implicitly tie it to December 25 -- after all, true love should last all year 'round.

What do you think of the video? Let us know in the comments!

Dream Theater's Jordan Rudess Names Five Albums That Changed His Life

In a new interview for Noisecreep, Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess has named five albums that changed his life. Among the descriptions of his five choices (which we're not going to reveal here):

"The combination of the energy, the harmonies and intricate chord changes, opened up my mind to the possibilities of what I could do with a keyboard."

"It literally sounded like his guitar was talking. I still haven't heard anyone make a wah-wah pedal sound like that."

"I used to follow the band around whenever they played anywhere near me. They all played multiple instruments and put on a great show."

"[A] lot of Dream Theater fans might think I would be more into something more technical and with more chops, but I'm also really attracted to gentle music too."

"They are a band filled with really amazing players. The way their parts intertwined with other each other was so...The word 'glorious' comes to mind when I think about that album."

'Hugo': The Reviews Are In!

Most critics praise film's visuals and performances, although some take issue with its length.
By Eric Ditzian

Asa Butterfield in "Hugo"
Photo: Paramount Pictures

We're big "Hugo" fans here in the MTV Newsroom, as we make clear over at Movies Blog, calling Martin Scorsese's 3-D film a "love letter to cinema" and "like nothing you've ever seen from the Oscar-winning filmmaker before."

We're not the only ones raving about it. Critics are celebrating the movie's bold visual style and strong performances. The only issue anyone seems to have with "Hugo" is that there's just too much of it: The story — following the young orphan Hugo's (Asa Butterfield) adventures in a 1930s Parisian metro station, his battles with the station inspector (Sacha Baron Cohen) and his friendship with a girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) also living in the station who is being raised by film pioneer Georges Méliès (Ben Kingsley) — chugs forward too slowly before finally springing to life. Read on for those critiques and more in our "Hugo" review roundup.

The Story " 'Hugo' is the tale of a boy, one of fiction's sentimental orphans, and the world he invents, yet, unsurprisingly, its most heartfelt passages are about Méliès. The old filmmaker is as broken and in need of revival as the automaton, and while you can guess what happens, it's the getting there — how the clock is wound — that surprises and often delights. Waves of melancholy wash over the story and keep the treacle at bay, as do the spasms of broad comedy, much of it nimbly executed by Mr. Baron Cohen." — Manohla Dargis, The New York Times

< b>The Visuals " 'Hugo's' use of the third dimension is exceptionally well thought out and essential to the film's ability to make a children's vision of the world come to life. Making that world a Parisian one has also inspired 'Hugo's' visual team, led by production designer Dante Ferretti, and the film's numerous shots floating over the rooftops of Paris are always fantastic. As with the original novel, the wordless parts of 'Hugo,' including a masterful re-creation of a famous train wreck, are very much its strength." — Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

The Performances "Although he ultimately comes through with a winning performance, Butterfield, previously seen in 'Son of Rambow' and 'The Wolfman,' seems a bit stiff and uncertain in the early-going. ... By contrast, Moretz ('Kick-Ass,' 'Let Me In'), with her beaming warmth and great smile, is captivating as a girl who leaps at the chance for some adventure outside of books. Refusing to sentimentalize, Kingsley catches both the deeply submerged hurt and eventual pride of an artist long but not forever erased from history." — Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter

The Finale "[D]uring 'Hugo's' final 20 minutes or so, when Scorsese mounts a lavish reenactment of those early days of the art form, the film truly comes to life, as the story's preoccupation with mechanics and logistical dot-connecting gives way to imagination, magic and swashes of lurid color. ... With the director so clearly in his element and so affectionately in control, 'Hugo' ends as a triumph, bursting with the poetry, verve and irrepressible love befitting a match made in movie heaven." — Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post

The Final Word "[T]he story — period details and mysteries notwithstanding — is too slight to support this length. It's an 80 minute bon bon struggling to break out of a two hour and ten minute souffle. Still, movie buffs, especially fans of early cinema history, will be transfixed by scenes in the latter acts — movie-making, as it was being invented. It's why Scorsese chose to make the film. It's where his heart truly is with this material. And it's no surprise that this corner of his wondrous little picture is where he chose to take a cameo, immortalizing himself in the history of the medium he grew up loving and mastering." — Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel

AWOLNATION Call Debut Album 'Genre-Less'

'I feel lucky to be a songwriter that has an open mind to all different kinds of music,' frontman Aaron Bruno says of Megalithic Symphony.
By Rya Backer

AWOLNATION's Aaron Bruno
Photo: MTV News

AWOLNATION may be a play on frontman Aaron Bruno's childhood nickname, but according to him, it's far from a solo project.

"It's my vision, I suppose, but it's sort of uncomfortable for me to take full responsibility for it, because nothing is possible without the support of a team of people," said Bruno, formerly of such rock acts as Under the Influence of Giants and Hometown Hero.

Still, he remains instrumental in crafting the style-bending and -defying melodies, hooks and choruses featured throughout the group's debut album, Megalithic Symphony (listen to his singles, "Not Your Fault" and "Sail," for perfect takes on pop-punk and prog industrial, respectively).

"I feel lucky to be a songwriter that has an open mind to all different kinds of music," Bruno said. "So I think because of that, I was able to make a record that is genre-less, and I'm very proud to not be able to tell you that it's an alternative record or only a rock record, et cetera. ... I'm just a huge music nerd/fan at the end of the day."

But how did they come up with that name? "I went with the name AWOL, because I've always enjoyed the option of leaving social circumstances without having to explain myself," Bruno said. Less straightforward, however, is Bruno's songwriting. "It's important to me that people interpret the lyrics and the concept and the message for their own and not read too much into it literally. Because a lot of the lyrics are metaphors for life situations that I've been in, and I encourage people to create their own meaning for it out of it all."

Regardless of how the songs are taken in, Bruno is sincere in hoping whatever message is delivered holds meaning to the listener. His one great hope for Megalithic Symphony? "Hopefully this record that I've made helps people through the struggles of life or helps them through the good times."

'X Factor': How Will Astro Address Last Week's Drama?

Plus: Nicole Scherzinger's Over 30's step it up after Stacy Francis' ouster.
By Jim Cantiello

Astro on "X Factor"
Photo: FOX

MTV News' own Jim Cantiello is exclusively covering "The X Factor" rehearsals. Read on for his fly-on-the-wall backstage report!

We're five weeks into the "X Factor" live shows, and sleep deprivation has finally caught up with everyone. Not just the contestants, mind you, but the crew too. With Thanksgiving shifting the production schedule up a day, Team X has been working for almost two weeks straight without a day off. During rehearsals, contestants are cramming in this week's performances as well as next week's songs to allow for a day or two off this holiday week — not to mention a double elimination looming over everyone's heads.

And you thought last week's Astro drama was intense.

Speaking of 'Stro, the young MC is ready to accept any backlash headed his way after his defiant moment in the bottom two. He's already apologized on his Facebook wall and on Twitter, but I'm also hearing rumblings of an apology in his pre-performance package. Plus, as he always does, he'll be performing an autobiographical original verse, so you might want to pay extra-close attention to his sly wordplay.

Fresh off sending Stacy Francis home, Nicole Scherzinger is pushing her remaining Over 30's to be as bold as possible. Perhaps that's why one dude's tackling an instrument — a live-show first! — and the other dude is trying his hand at a girl's song. Will the risks pay off? (They certainly did in rehearsals.)

Over the weekend, one of Simon Cowell's girls got a taste of movie magic as she performed in front of a giant green screen. Creative director Brian Friedman shouted descriptions to her to help situate her in a virtual world, which was then digitally added in postproduction. She won't be performing in front of a green screen come Tuesday night, however. All that work was just for a background graphic that will play behind her as she sings live.

Thanks to everyone's exhaustion, some "X Factor" team members are getting even punchier and zanier. Stylist June Ambrose popped outside of her trailer in a glittery head wrap that would have been perfect for Gloria Swanson had she ever visited Studio 54. "I'm disco, darling," she proclaimed to the crew members walking by. Her playful antics caught the eye of judge and mentor Paula Abdul, who quickly ran over to the trailer for an impromptu dress-up play date. If only I got an invite ...

In other Paula news, the mentor all but gave away country-pop group Lakoda Rayne's song choice during a Ustream broadcast with fans. "It's a song by someone who did pretty great these past 24 hours. And won lots of awards," she coyly said. (One only needs to check out the list of 2011 American Music Awards winners to be able to whittle down what artist Lakoda Rayne will be paying homage to in Tuesday's live show.)

And I'll leave you with my biggest burning question of the week: Will the paint dry in time? Seriously! Hours before showtime, one particular set piece was being slathered with a new coat at the last minute. And considering a contestant will be performing on this Aggro Crag-like structure, will her outfit get soiled by wet paint? Keep your eyes peeled, those of you with HD TVs!

You can catch Jim on the "X Factor Pepsi Pre-Show," streaming at 7 p.m. ET tonight on TheXFactorUSA.com!

'Breaking Dawn' Carolina Herrera Wedding Gown To Hit Stores

Also, Alfred Angelo's official replica of the designer's 'Twilight' dress is available nationwide for $799.
By Rob Markman

You too can look like Bella Swan on her wedding day now that the official replica of the elegant gown Kristen Stewart wore in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" is available in stores. The Carolina Herrera-designed dress that Stewart wears when she and Robert Pattinson trade vows onscreen arrived in stores on Monday, priced at $799, according to The Wall Street Journal.

In addition to the movie's much ballyhooed sex scene, fans eagerly anticipated the wedding scene, where Bella dons the glorious long-sleeve lace bridal gown. Though the film's version of the dress was designed by Herrera, bridal retailer Alfred Angelo handled the replication and has been working with Summit Entertainment since May to get the item in stores in time for the film's premiere. The dresses are available at Alfred Angelo stores nationwide.

Herrera herself will also be selling the gown in her CHNY boutiques next year, according to a Reuters report. Details on how many dresses will be produced and how much the gown will cost have not been released.

During our "MTV First: Breaking Dawn" live stream earlier this month, Stewart, flanked by co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, described the fantasy nuptials as "realistically ceremonial" and "very, very emotional." She even kept the dress a secret from her castmates, except for Pattinson, who caught a sneak peek, much to her dismay.

"Nobody saw it until I walked out, which made me so ...," Stewart said, struggling for the right word. "It wasn't about the dress, it was just everything involved. I was like, ugh, so very the center of attention at that very moment."

Herrera's original design was, of course, inspired by the book. "I was called by Stephenie Meyer. We had to discuss a lot, but I was very inspired by her book and the description of the wedding," Herrera said at the film's premiere. "I was very flattered I was asked to do it; it's a big scene for me."

Though she made the dress for Stewart, a big-time actress in one of the highest-grossing films of the year, Herrera approached the design just as she would any other bride.

"Wedding dresses are different, because you have to know that it's the most important day in the life of a woman," she said. "You have to please the bride first of all, and it has to be a secret. I cannot talk about the dress before the groom sees it.

"I treated [Kristen Stewart's Bella] like every other bride," she admitted. "I think [Stewart] was very moved when she tried it on. And that means a lot, because she felt that it was the right one."

Would you purchase a replica of Bella Swan's wedding gown for your special day? Tell us in the comments!

Mike Posner Is 'A Rapper Trapped In A Singer's Body'

'I got love and acceptance in that community, and that's something that I really take seriously,' Mike Posner tells Mixtape Daily.

Don't Sleep: Necessary Notables
Mixtape: The Layover

Key Cameo: "Rocket Man" (featuring Bun B)
Essential Info: Mike Posner is in touch with his rap side. On his new mixtape The Layover, he enlists the help of noted spitters like Bun B, Big K.R.I.T., Twista, Slim Thug, Cyhi the Prynce and Machine Gun Kelly — not that the "Cooler Than Me" singer lacks hip-hop swag, though.

"I'm kind of like a rapper trapped in a singer's body," Posner told Mixtape Daily. "That was the whole idea of me starting to sing in the first place. It took me a long time to stumble upon a sound, and I figured out I wanted to kinda sing rapper's lyrics."

Maybe it's his smoky voice or the way he intertwines slang into his lyrics, but the seemingly poppy Posner is a definite product of the hip-hop generation. Doubters need look no further than the recently released Layover. For much of the tape, Posner takes classic records like Oasis' "Wonderwall" and Elton John's "Rocket Man" and adds his own swag.

On "Henny & Purple" the Detroit crooner dedicates an entire song to getting high and drinking drank; for "On Fire," he and Machine Gun Kelly revisit Posner's 2009 track "Drug Dealer Girl" and deliver a well-equipped sequel. Things get even dustier when Mike enlists former Slum Village lyricist Elzhi to jump on "Mittens Up."

On the bouncy track, Mike borrows from 50 Cent's "Wanksta" when he sings, "Damn, homey, in high school you was the man, homey," but it is Elzhi who has the tape's most densely packed lyrics.

"That's why I make mixtapes, that's why I work with Don Cannon, that's why i work with Big Sean," Posner said. "Even though I don't rap, I got love and acceptance in that community, and that's something that I really take seriously and hold close to my heart."

AMAs Ruled By Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, More Ladies

Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry also get AMA love, while Justin Bieber and Chris Brown rep for the fellas with their performances.
By Jocelyn Vena

On Sunday night (November 20), the music industry's A-listers gathered inside Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre to celebrate some of 2011's most memorable musical moments. It was a night dominated by chart-toppers like Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez.

Minaj and David Guetta were the first to electrify the stage. The two stars joined forces to get the room jumping with their track "Turn Me On," which transitioned into Nicki's breakthrough hit "Super Bass."

Maroon 5 were the first big winners, taking home Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group. "This is our first one. This is crazy. I think in order to get one of these, you have to have loyal fans," lead singer Adam Levine said.

Next up, Swift nabbed a trophy for Favorite Country Female Artist. After hugging pal Selena Gomez, Taylor excitedly accepted her award wearing a glittering gown. "I want to thank my band and my crew and the fans for filling up stadiums," she said. "And my mom and my dad and my brother who came with me tonight, and my fans who continue to amaze me."

Sean Kingston was onstage to welcome his "true friend" Justin Bieber, whom he noted kept in touch with him continually during his recovery earlier this year. Bieber brought a little Christmas to the stage, performing his Under the Mistletoe song "Mistletoe."

The flurry of performances continued, including one from the Band Perry (who appear on Bieber's UTM) singing their crossover track "If I Die Young." Then 50 Cent took the stage to proclaim the following about Chris Brown: "You haven't seen this guy till you've seen him perform onstage. It's the main event." Brown gave the room a little medley, slowing it down with "All Back" then transitioning into "Say It With Me."

Nicki Minaj took home her first award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist. She was the only girl up against Yeezy and Weezy. "I didn't think I was going to win it," she told the room. "I have to thank God ... and Taylor Swift, wherever you are. I want to thank my Barbz. There's power in your peace. Hold your peace."

Kelly Clarkson performed a big-band-inspired version of her song "Mr. Know It All" before Favorite Soul/R&B Album was handed out to Rihanna for Loud. In a pre-taped message, Rihanna said, "This means a lot to me. I love you guys. Thanks to all my fans."

Enrique Iglesias took the stage with a little help from a marching band to perform his feel-good track "I Like How It Feels" then recalled his performance last year when he once again performed "Tonight."

Jennifer Lopez followed up her fellow Latin superstar, kicking off her performance in a very diva way, complete with a flowing gown and wind machine, before kicking into high gear with "Papi," for which she changed into a sparkly, body-hugging outfit. For her third costume change, Pitbull took the stage with her for "On the Floor."

Lady Antebellum locked in the prize for Favorite Country Band, Duo or Group. Leading lady Hillary Scott said, "We just want to say thank you to the fans. It starts and ends with you."

Adam Lambert made his return to the AMA stage two years after his memorable (and divisive) debut performance, welcoming OneRepublic, who performed "Good Life" and had Bieber bopping his head from the audience.

Then, Minaj was back again, winning Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for Pink Friday. Swift handed it off to her before Minaj said, "This one can actually make me cry. I can't believe this is happening ... just chase your dreams," she told her fans. "Shout out to all the female rappers, past, present and future."

Pitbull was joined by hypeman Lil Jon and Marc Anthony for "Rain Over Me" before Katy Perry took the stage. All decked out in pink, she embraced the sadness of her track "The One That Got Away" by keeping it simple and acoustic.

Immediately after performing, Perry was surprised with a special award of achievement for being the first woman in the history of pop music to have five #1 singles from one album. "Can I just say, thank you so much for letting me be a chameleon this year. I love you so much, and I also love my fans. I want to thank my band and all of the people who came out to see me."

Hot Chelle Rae won for New Artist of the Year before J.Lo took it home for Favorite Latin Artist. "I'm shaking," she said. "I didn't expect to win. It's been a really amazing year in so many ways. It's been up and down. It's been exciting and overwhelming. I'm just grateful for all my blessings."

Mary J. Blige brought some swagger to the stage for "Mr. Wrong" before paying homage to late MC Heavy D. "Rest in peace to my dear friend, the lovable, the great Heavy D. I miss you so much, brother."

The Favorite Soul R&B Female Artist went to Beyoncé, who accepted the trophy from NYC. "AMAs thank you very, very much. I'm so excited about this award because it was voted by all of my fans, and I have the best fans in the world. Actually, you're the only people I want to thank."

"Moves Like Jagger" brought Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera out, and their rollicking rendition of the bouncy party track had Swift and Gomez dancing in the audience. That transitioned nicely into Maroon frontman Levine joining Gym Class Heroes for their performance of "Stereo Hearts," complete with a big boom box behind them.

Drake brought some fire to the stage with his track "Headlines," which had the house going wild, including his Young Money sister Minaj and Swift, who seemed to know all the words to the Take Care track.

Bruno Mars won for Favroite Pop/Rock Male Artist. "I want to thank the fans," he said. "You all mean everything to me. I want to say hi to my family at home in Hawaii."

Daughtry brought power rock to the show with "Back to You," and then Swift took home another award: Favorite Country Album for Speak Now. "I want to thank all the fans for remembering the lyrics and caring about lyrics," she said. "This is so amazing."

Next, will.i.am took the stage with Jennifer Lopez for the premiere of his track "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)" for what turned out to be one very eye-popping performance, relying heavily on neon clothes and some assistance from Mick Jagger via video.

Adele won for Favorite Pop/Rock Album for 21, however, it was Swift who took home the big award for Artist of the Year, bringing her career AMA total to 10. "This is one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me," she said. "Thank you so much to the fans. I have no idea. I didn't think this was going to happen. I love you, Selena, my little sister I never had. Oh my God! Thank you for everything."

But that was hardly the end. LMFAO were the show's big finale, and they rocked out with lasers, their party-boy demeanor and lots of smooth dance moves as they hit the stage for "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy and I Know It." Oh yeah: Bieber and David Hasselhoff also hit the stage with the guys. Apparently they really like to shuffle. And wiggle.

What did you think of the AMAs? Let us know in the comments below!
