In the wake of the release of their critically acclaimed fifth studio album Nine Types Of Light, alternative band TV On the Radio had much more sobering news to share with fans. Yesterday they announced that 36 year old bass and organ player Gerard Smith had passed away after a battle with lung cancer. He performed on each of the three most recent albums by the band. The cancer had just been diagnosed March 14, 2011. In the wake of this tragic occurrence, the band has cancelled five concert dates. They are as follows:
