Phoebe Snow, Singer Of "Poetry Man," Dies At Age 58

Singer-songwriter Phoebe Snow, best known for the 1975 top 5 pop hit single "Poetry Man," has passed away at age 58 due to complications of a cerebral hemmorhage. She had one of the most celebrated debuts of the 1970s. Her self-titled debut album reached #4 on the pop album chart, spawned the hit single "Poetry Man," and it ultimately earned Phoebe Snow a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist. Her success crossed over on to the Jazz and R&B charts. In late 1975 the birth of a severely brain-injured daughter, Valerie, caused Phoebe Snow to shift her primary concentration to child care from her music career. That remained the focus of her life until Valerie's death in 2007.
