Freddie Mercury Of Queen Would Have Been 65 Yesterday

It has been nearly 20 years since the music world lost the incomparable Freddie Mercury, lead vocalist of Queen, to the ravages of the AIDS epidemic. Yesterday, September 5, 2011, would have been his 65th birthday, and it was cause for celebrating the immense talent that was Freddie Mercury and his musical legacy. His stunning vocal range and flamboyant onstage personality are unforgettable. Queen are one of the top selling rock bands of all time and at home in the UK they are one of the bestselling recording acts ever. Their album Greatest Hits is the biggest selling album ever in the UK. Their single, "Bohemian Rhapsody," which logged nine weeks at #1 upon first release in 1975 and five more in 1991, is the third biggest selling single ever in the UK. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is frequently cited as one of the best pop and rock hits ever.
