Remembering Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes Of TLC 10 Years Later

April 25, 2002 the pop music world suffered a tragedy when 30 year old Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, 1/3 of the groundbreaking R&B / pop trio TLC perished in a traffic accident in Honduras. At the time of her death the group were working on a fourth studio album 3D and Lisa Lopes had released her solo debut Supernova overseas hoping to launch a solo career. She will be remembered for a fiery creative streak that helped TLC become one of the bestselling female groups of all time. In the course of three albums certified quadruple platinum and beyond, they reached the top 10 on the pop singles chart nine times, with four, "Creep," "Waterfalls," "No Scrubs," and "Unpretty" going all the way to #1. TLC took home four Grammy Awards, twice winning Best R&B Album. The remaining TLC members Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas have recorded and performed together, but the particular magic and sometimes contentious creative energy is missing.
