While just three or four weeks ago it seemed unlikely, after the final performances this Tuesday, Phillip Phillips had emerged as the favorite to win season 11 of American Idol. The 21 year old did indeed emerge victorious over 16 year old vocal powerhouse Jessica Sanchez. Phillip Phillips was the only contestant this season to never finish a week in the bottom 3. He has been highly praised for being more of an "artist" than his fellow contestants. In a show which leans heavily on singing talent, Phillip Phillips demonstrated that commitment to a highly personal muscial style could win the prize. His official first single "Home" is currently #1 at iTunes and eight more of his performances have flooded the top 100. It is far too early to guess what direction the first Phillip Phillips album will go, but it could be one of the more interesting and unique of first albums from an American Idol champion.
