Adele Leads Album Sales To Third Consecutive Week of Growth Year Over Year

It hasn't happened often in recent years, so this is a week to celebrate. Grammy week kicked the streak off with a growth of 11% in album sales over the same week last year. Then the past two weeks Adele has led the way with her album 21 at #1 and album sales continuing to be higher than the comparable week last year. The total of albums sold for the year so far now stands at a point only 8% behind last year. With this week a big release week led by Lupe Fiasco and Avril Lavigne, the streak is likely to continue. Over on the singles sales side, the music industry is having a banner year so far with overall sales currently up 7% over last year. The lesson that should be learned so far is high quality music from top artists still sells.
