Album Sales Up For Five Straight Weeks For the First Time Since 2004

Has the music industry in the US finally hit bottom in the long decline of album sales? Many of us are far too nervous to call it that yet, but the picture is the brightest it has been in a long long time. Billboard reports the guesses on what exactly is going on, but they are simply that, guesses. What we do know is that catalog album sales are starting to surge while sales of new albums is holding steady. Sales of individual single tracks is surging even more, so the overall sales picture for music is good right now. It does look like the trend should continue at least into the next couple of weeks.
