Lupe Fiasco's Lasers Heads Fourth Consecutive Week In Album Sales Growth Over Last Year

The increase over the same week last year is only 2% and the total for the year so far is still 7% less than the total at this point last year, but a mixed picture is still good news compared to what we are used to in looking at album sales. Lupe Fiasco will open at the top of this week's album chart with sales of over 200,000 for Lasers. It is his first visit to the top of the Billboard album chart and his best single week of sales yet. Five of the top six albums this week are debuts. They include Glee at #3 and Avril Lavigne's Goodbye Lullaby at #4. Adele has now sold over 650,000 copies of 21 in just three weeks. It dips to #2 this week on the chart. Single sales continue a strong year with the weekly total up 7% over the same week last year and up 7% for the year overall. Next week it looks like Lupe Fiasco, Adele, and Rise Against with their new album Endgame are likely to battle it out for #1 on the album chart.
