This year's MTV Europe Music Awards took place last night in Madrid, Spain, and the main categories were dominated by American acts. Lady Gaga was the big winner of the night taking home three top awards. She temporarily halted a live show in Hungary to accept her awards via video link. Ke$ha (pictured) accepted her Best New Artist citation in defiant fashion saying, "I make music for you and hopefully I can inspire you guys to give the finger to the cynics and f**king be yourself!" Katy Perry and Justin Bieber also won key awards. Among the top performers were Shakira, Rihanna, and Miley Cyrus. Winners in key categories are listed below.
