As Simon asks us, "What else did you expect?" Last night during the broadcast of baseball's All Star Game, Fox previewed this fall's US debut of Simon Cowell's UK hit talent competition X Factor. The two and a half minute spot kicks off with a warm, friendly Simon clad in a sweater charmingly expressing his appreciation for contestants with questionable vocal pipes as the rest of the judges look comfy and cozy with their Pepsi product placement. We soon find out it is all a nightmare, and, set to the ominous sounds of Paul McCartney's classic "Live and Let Die," we get a glimpse of the season to come. It looks like the possibility of fireworks in the reunion of Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, witty, but cutting, comments from L.A. Reid, and perhaps a few tears from Nicole Scherzinger. With a triumphant recovery earlier this year for American Idol and the surprise success of The Voice, Simon Cowell does have his work cut out for him in winning over audiences with X Factor. However, if this clip is any indication of what is to come this September, pull out the popcorn, we are ready to watch!
